Leigh Scott is a certified parenting facilitator and has had a private practice as a health consultant for over 30 years, working with families in health, stress management and self-care. She is also a certified Feldenkrais® practitioner (neurological retraining) and  teacher. Together with her sister Elizabeth Scott, LCSW, Leigh has taught The Body Positive, a school-based training on body image issues for schoolchildren and adolescents.

Leigh trained in Colorado with Love and Logic® founders Jim Fay, Foster Cline MD, and Dr. Charles Fay. Leigh has taught workshops and worked with families in California, New York, and Connecticut. Clients have included parents, teachers, school administrators, physicians and mental health professionals.

Leigh Scott’s parenting workshops have given hundreds of parents and teachers tools and language that can turn stressful situations into opportunities for connection, learning, and fun. She has creatively combined the most effective aspects of psychology, neuroscience and mindfulness based practices with her life’s experience as a parent and professional educator. Her most influential teachers besides the Love and Logic founders are Dr Dan Siegel, Wendy Mogel and Dr Moshe Feldenkrais. Leigh’s unique approach helps parents actually apply effective parenting skills even when children “push our buttons.”

Leigh loves teaching and working with families in an atmosphere of safety, honesty, and lots of laughter. Her focus is on providing specific skills and steps to help parents change  habitual “reactions” that stem from worry and fear. She teaches parents how to use their mind to identify historical beliefs from past experiences and then differentiate between them and the present moment. This makes it possible to choose more effective, “higher road responses”, and to find the balance needed to raise responsible, respectful and emotionally intelligent children.

Leigh has two grown children and lives in Stamford, CT. Her daughter Codie is 24, and her son Nicholas is 26 and live they in NYC.
